“I wrote this song in the spring of 2021, a season which marked the start of a record-setting, pavement-melting, diabolically hot Texas summer. By March it was already warming up outside, so I found myself in my studio one evening with a cold bottle of Modelo beer and my guitar in hand, noodling around on some chord and melody ideas. A few riffs (and sips) later, "Medallion" started coming to fruition. It's a twangy, dusty, groovy tune that reminds me of the expanses of the American Southwestern, and draws inspiration from some of my early jazz-funk influences; artists like John Scofiled and Soulive. When used responsibly, cold beer and hot weather can be a great catalyst for creativity!" - Mark Lettieri
